RANGOLI FEST FOR PCOS AWARENESS – MARCH 2024
Rangoli Fest
Art for Awareness: A Unique Approach to Highlighting PCOS
The NS Foundation, a tireless advocate for women’s health awareness, added another colorful chapter to its story on March 30th, 2024. They hosted a captivating PCOS Awareness Rangoli Competition at St. George Anglo Indian School, Kilpauk, Chennai. This innovative event transcended the realm of a simple competition, transforming into a vibrant platform for artistic expression, education, and community building.
Dr. Navneeth Selvan: A Visionary Leader in Women’s Health
The driving force behind this impactful event was Dr. Navneeth Selvan, MBBS, MD, CCPPM, PGDCR. As the Founder and Managing Trustee of the NS Foundation and Chief PCOS Consultant at Threos Healthcare, Dr. Selvan’s dedication to women’s health is truly commendable. His vision for the Rangoli Competition served as a testament to his belief in the power of creative expression to raise awareness about critical health issues like PCOS.
A Canvas for Creativity: Individual and Team Rangoli Creations
The competition offered two exciting categories, catering to both individual artists and collaborative teams (up to 3 members). Participants were provided with a designated 5×5 feet surface, allowing them ample space to showcase their artistic prowess. A time limit of 60 minutes, with an additional 15-minute grace period, ensured a focused yet creative atmosphere.
A Spectrum of Colors, a Symphony of Knowledge
The provided color palette – green, blue, black, white, yellow, and orange – offered a vibrant canvas for participants to express their understanding of PCOS. This specific selection wasn’t random. Each color could potentially represent different aspects of PCOS, from hormonal imbalances (green) to menstrual irregularities (red, not provided but possibly incorporated through individual creativity). Over 150 women participated individually, showcasing their unique interpretations of PCOS through this artistic medium. Additionally, 15+ enthusiastic teams registered, fostering a spirit of collaboration and friendly competition.
Expert Evaluation and Well-Deserved Recognition
A distinguished panel of judges, comprising NS Foundation founders and esteemed members from the Government Fine Arts College’s Department of Fine Arts, meticulously evaluated each Rangoli. Their expertise ensured that the most impactful and visually stunning creations were recognized, not just for their artistic merit, but also for their effectiveness in conveying a deeper understanding of PCOS.
Rewarding Creativity and Raising Awareness: A Celebration of Artistic Merit
The winning teams were awarded impressive prizes, acknowledging their dedication and artistic talent:
• 1st Place: Team Vanaja Radhakrishnan (Trophy + Certificate + Rs. 10,000 +)
• 2nd Place: Team Vijayalakshmi (Trophy + Certificate + Rs. 7,000)

Mr. Shiva Kumar (Secretary of Advisory Committee), Mr. Manikandan (Secretary of Youth Committee), and Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari (Senior Coordinator) played pivotal roles in organizing and managing the competition. Their collaborative efforts ensured a smooth execution, allowing participants to focus on their artistic endeavors.
